When it comes to gardening, it can usually be expected that you are going to want to show off your plants in one way or another.
Some people may show off the produce or produce products that they were able to make from the plants that they grew, while other people might be more inclined to show you the vibrant and colorful blossoms of other plants.
No matter what kind of plant you are working with, there are going to be plenty of ways that you can show the plant off.
Of course, different plants are going to have different types of presentations. You wouldn’t show off an apple tree sapling in a small pot that is meant for houseplants, and likewise, most people don’t plant small houseplants in the center of their yard.
Where you show your plant off is going to depend heavily on what kind of plant it is and what its purpose will be.
As an example, you can consider the ever-popular geranium. Geraniums are plants that are considered widely popular for their appearance and for the fact that they are immensely easy to grow.
If you are looking to liven up the appearance of your porch or your house with a blooming flower of some sort, the geranium is going to be one of the best plants to use to get the job done.
Deciding Where Your Geraniums Are Going to Go
There are more than a few different ways that you can end up planting your geranium. Some people will simply plant them as bushes to have in the middle of the yard or lining the house, but this is one of the least common ways to handle it.
More often than not, you are going to be putting the geraniums in containers of their own. Depending on where you live, you may either keep these containers inside or they may be decorations for the patio.
When you are deciding what you are going to put in the plant pots with the geranium, you might come to wonder if there are going to be some plants that complement the appearance of the geranium more than others.
If you are planning on having a large pot of flowers, there are several different flowers that will go with the appearance of the geranium without taking up too much of your gaze, and similarly, there are plants that will make a nice contrast to geraniums if you want the plant to be the main focus of what is in the pot.
Before you can begin planting these additional plants with your geraniums, you are going to need to make sure that you know where they are going to go. This will help you tremendously in deciding what you are going to add to the geranium pot of flowers.
For Multiple Plants in a Container
If you are planning on having more than one or two types of plant in a pot to put on your porch, you may feel at a loss as to which ones are going to work the best with the geraniums.
There are more than a few that you can choose from, meaning that you will have a fair amount of choices in determining which ones will fit your desired appearance and any other requirements you may have for plants (such as nontoxic plants to accommodate the neighborhood dogs).
All of these plants are going to have similar or the same requirements for sunlight, water, and soil composition as geraniums do. This will allow you to make sure that you aren’t spending too much time tending to each and every one of the flowers in the pot and you can instead focus on making sure that everything looks good together.
One type of plant that you can add to a pot of geraniums is going to be known as the “red star.” The red star is a variant of the Dracaena plant, and as you may be able to imagine, is known for its deep red leaves that spread out in a wide star shape.
This plant will mesh nicely with the small but vivid blooms of the geranium without standing out too much on its own.
If you live in an area that is suitable for sweet potatoes, you may find that you will not only be able to keep your pot of flowers looking good, but you can end up getting some produce out of it too.
If you are planning to plant some sweet potato alongside the geranium, you will want to try and put in some extra effort to make sure that the pot you are planting them in is going to have enough room for the potential potato to grow.
If you are looking for a plant that can share the appearance of the geranium with equally as eye-catching and vibrant blooms, then you may want to consider the Pretoria plant. This plant can also be found under the name of the Canna Lily.
These flowers have wide leaves that will act as a nice backdrop for any vivid blooms, while the flowers and the stalks themselves can grow quite tall, making a head-turning appearance on any porch.
In addition to all of these plants, you can consider just about any other plant that is known for its small and colorful leaves. These kinds of plants can have a decorative effect on the planter that you are working with and this can create an appearance that most people can appreciate.
One of the most beloved aspects of geraniums is that they are known for being able to go along with almost any other plant that you could put into a container.
If you are looking for a type of flower that will not only be easy to care for, but you will also be able to decorate, mix and match, and customize your own flower pot composition with, then the geranium is going to be one of the best types of flowers for you to choose from.
Even these flowers have a range of subspecies that can fit the appearance of certain design themes. These are just a few of the types of flowers you can plant alongside your brand-new geraniums.
